UsAgainstAlzheimer’s Issues Urgent Call to Protect Vital Health Funding in the FY26 HHS Budget

Washington, DC (May 2, 2025) – Today, the Trump Administration released an outline of its FY26 budget.

George Vradenburg, Chairman and Co-Founder of UsAgainstAlzheimer’s, issued the following statement:

“Have we prevented Alzheimer’s? Have we prevented cancer? Have we prevented any number of other chronic and rare diseases that make Americans’ lives shorter and more painful? Until we do all of those, it is premature to talk about cutting investment in our pathway to cures. The outline of the proposed FY26 budget looks like a serious threat to decades of progress in disease prevention and life-saving research for conditions such as cancer, Alzheimer’s, lung and heart disease, and diabetes. These deep cuts not only jeopardize critical advancements but also put the health and well-being of every American family at risk by undermining vital agencies like the NIH, CDC, and FDA.

Health care should be the foundation we build on, not the first area to face massive reductions. Cutting funding for health research is more than just a financial decision – it directly impacts lives by delaying earlier diagnoses, breakthrough treatments, and cures.

We call on Congress to reject reckless cuts, prioritize smart and transparent investments, involve experts who understand the real-world impact of these decisions, and uphold the bipartisan commitment that has historically driven progress toward better treatments and cures. This is not a partisan issue. It is a matter of life and death for all Americans.”
