Washington, D.C. (August 7, 2026) – UsAgainstAlzheimer's issued the following statement in response to news reports regarding the cancellation of at least two multi-year Alzheimer’s research grants. 

“UsAgainstAlzheimer’s is very troubled by reports of Alzheimer’s grant cancellations by the National Institutes of Health, including at University of Pittsburgh. All Americans impacted by this disease need treatments and cures.  

“Not every American is affected by Alzheimer’s in the same way and some communities are more affected than others. That’s why all research is imperative, and every dollar invested in Alzheimer’s gets us one step closer to a cure. 

“Our nation cannot afford to waste a single day or dollar in the effort to prevent and treat this devastating disease. Halting grants mid-way through their process is wasteful of taxpayer dollars and jeopardizes the critical progress of ending this disease. We urge NIH to restore these grants and allow them to resume.”
