A February 11, 2016 NPR.org article reported that “The odds of getting Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia are declining for people who are more educated and avoiding heart disease, a study finds.” 

A February 10, 2016 US News & World Report article reported that over the “next 25 years, 38 percent of African Americans older than 65 will develop dementia.” According to the article, “The same is true for 35 percent of Native Americans/Alaskan Natives, 32 percent of Latinos, 25 percent of Pacific Islanders, 30 percent of whites and 28 percent of Asian Americans in the same age group.”

A February 11, 2016 USC News article reported that “The USC Alzheimer’s Therapeutic Research Institute (ATRI) partnership meeting held in January brought together USC leaders, neuroscientists and visiting researchers to discuss the new institute and the future of Alzheimer’s research.”

A February 11, 2015 Boston Business Journal article reported that biotech company Yumanity is prioritizing diversity. According to the article, “Yumanity's dedication to diversity will continue as the company hires another 10 people, thanks to a $45 million financing round announced this week that will also help the company progress its drugs to clinical trials. Coles commitment to diversity isn’t surprising, given that he is among the few African American executives in the industry.” Yumanity is focused on developing drugs for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and ALS.
