An August 11, 2016 AlzForum.org article profiled the work of the Global Alzheimer’s Platform (GAP) and the European Prevention of Alzheimer’s Dementia (EPAD) to transform the clinical research process for Alzheimer’s drugs. According to GAP board chairman and UsAgainstAlzheimer’s co-founder George Vradenburg, “The Alzheimer’s field has been thinking too small. We need to link up patient registries, health plans, large physician groups, and trial sites to solve the fundamental challenge of getting participants into prevention trials.” Part two of the story here

An August 11, 2016 MedScape.com article and video segment by Dr. Richard Isaacson highlighted the unique impact of Alzheimer’s on women. According to Dr. Isaacson, “Women with Alzheimer disease have also been shown to cognitively decline faster than men with it, and also have more brain atrophy over time. But it's hard to say exactly why…Overall, more research is needed, but it continues to become more and more clear that the future of Alzheimer prevention and treatment is not one-size-fits-all. And that's really the exact nature of clinical precision medicine and Alzheimer disease.”

An August 11, 2016 The Des Moines Register article reported that “The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have proposed a new rule that would reimburse health care providers for cognitive and functional assessment and care planning for patients with Alzheimer’s disease and other cognitive impairments.” 

An August 11, 2016 UPI.com article reported that “A common anti-inflammatory drug reversed memory problems similar to Alzheimer's disease in mice, suggesting inflammation makes the disease worse and that treating inflammation may lessen its effects.”
