An April 27, 2016 Alzheimer’s Speaks Radio segment featured the UsAgainstAlzheimer’s team including George and Trish Vradenburg along with leadership from the Women, Latino, and Clergy networks. According to the description, “Today we will talk to the Founders of UsAgainstAlzheimer’s. During the first hour we will talk with George and Trish Vradenburg and learn the “why” behind the organization and what their goals are.” Listen here.

An April 27, 2016 Arizona City Independent article reported that “After five years of fundraising, Banner Health has met its goal of collecting $40 million in donations for its Alzheimer’s care facility.” According to the article, “The $40 million campaign has also helped launch an Alzheimer’s prevention registry, which connects research scientists with an online community of healthy study participants. More than 214,000 people have joined the registry as of this year.” 

An April 26, 2016 UPI.com article reported that “Difficulty remembering how to get around in new surroundings may be an extremely early sign of Alzheimer's, a small study suggests.”

An April 26, 2016 USA Today opinion piece by Susan Miller underscored the need for elder support. According to Miller, “Last week, President Obama signed into law a renewal of the Older Americans Act, which funds services such as senior centers, meals and caregiver support. Years of cuts and inflation, however, mean that the program has hardly kept pace with a booming elderly population…I have watched in recent years as most of my friends grapple with decisions regarding elderly parents. People are living longer, but they are often dealing with chronic conditions and economic hardships. When a crisis slams into reality, scrambling for options for mom and dad can seem insurmountable…I have one friend who juggles a full-time job and her own household with her second job of the past five years: Being the sole caretaker for an at-home mother sinking into Alzheimer’s.”

An April 26, 2016 The Motley Fool article reported on an experimental pill developed by Anavex Life Sciences that could reverse the progression of Alzheimer's disease. According to the article, “The apparent reason for their regained abilities is an experimental pill from Anavex Life Sciences (NASDAQ:AVXL) that they've been taking as part of an early stage trial. Could this new drug, named 2-73, be the first to slow, or even reverse progression of this awful disease? If so, how long until it's available to the public?”
