A September 13, 2015 Albany Herald article highlighted a new report initiated by WomenAgainstAlzheimer’s that finds women bear the brunt of the cost burden in Alzheimer’s disease care. According to UsAgainstAlheimer’s board member Jill Lesser, “This study goes farther than any to date toward showing the urgency for change to relieve the economic burden of Alzheimer’s on women. The study’s recommended reforms to Medicare, Medicaid and longterm care policies would go far to alleviating the financial weight of this disease on families across America.” Also reported on by Health Canal. 

A September 11, 2015 The Washington Times article reported that UsAgainstAlzheimer’s co-founders George and Trish Vradenburg and board member Meryl Comer will appear on Armstrong William’s The Right Side Forum. According to the article, “The Right Side Forum, an hour-long conservative live news and talk show hosted by columnist Armstrong Williams, this week will look at the challenge of Alzheimer’s disease for the nation as well as the patients and families who must deal with it.” Also reported on by MMC-News.com.


RESEARCH, SCIENCE, AND TECHNOLOGY 

A September 11, 2015 IndyStar article reported that Eli Lilly’s CEO John Lechleiter highlighted the company’s commitment to Alzheimer’s during a speech to the Economic Club of Indiana. According to Lechleiter, “But I also recognize that it remains our industry’s job . . . as it should . . . to deliver truly valuable new treatments for patients fighting diseases—like diabetes, like cancer, and like Alzheimer’s—that still cry out for more effective care. Lilly aims to continue doing that . . . from right here in Indiana . . . which is where I’d like to turn now.”

A September 11, 2015 CNN.com article reported that a new study finds that resveratrol, found in red wine, “may actually have benefit in slowing progression” of Alzheimer’s.
