MUST READS

An October 15, 2017 The San Diego Union-Tribune article reported that Ionis Pharmaceuticals, with partner, Biogen, began clinical testing of their drug, antisense, for mild Alzheimer’s disease. It blocks or modifies production of tau proteins involved in AD. It will be given once a month for three months to 44 patients.

According to an October 4, 2017 The New York Times article, physical activity increases the number of new neurons in the brain and changes their shape and workings, which might have implications for memory and delaying the onset of dementia. Neurogenesis, the process of creating new neurons, especially in areas of the brain related to memory and thinking, can be altered by lifestyle, including physical activity.
