UsAgainstAlzheimer’s Applauds Selection of Dr. Robert Califf to Lead FDA
Washington, DC – President Joe Biden announced he is nominating Dr. Robert Califf to become the new commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Dr. Califf is a consummate professional dedicated to keeping Americans healthy and safe. His commitment, expertise, and thoughtful approach are why he was easily confirmed in the Senate for this post during the Obama Administration in 2016, and he should be confirmed again.
“Dr. Califf has done the job and knows what it takes to be successful. He is the right person at the right time to lead the FDA as our nation navigates the COVID-19 pandemic while still addressing additional urgent medical issues, including Alzheimer’s disease,” said George Vradenburg, chair and co-founder of UsAgainstAlzheimers. “As the leader of a patient-centered organization, I particularly value Dr. Califf’s patient-centered approach to research and advocacy, which will be key as we work together to end Alzheimer’s.”
