Washington, DC (March 1, 2022) – In response to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union remarks regarding the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), UsAgainstAlzheimer’s chair and co-founder George Vradenburg issued the following statement:

"We applaud the President’s dedication to accelerating research to combat serious illnesses, like Alzheimer’s, that millions of Americans are fighting every day. With new approaches on the horizon, it is critical that this administration eliminate obstacles that prevent getting new treatments into the hands of patients. Shamefully, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is doing just that with its draft proposal to deny coverage for FDA-approved Alzheimer’s treatments.

"If the Biden Administration is committed to fighting back against diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s, the President should direct Medicare to cover FDA-Approved medications."
