WASHINGTON, DC – UsAgainstAlzheimer’s (UsA2) co-founders George and Trish Vradenburg were honored today at the Sixth Annual Great Ladies Luncheon & Fashion Show, presented by the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF) and Neiman Marcus Mazza Gallerie, for their many contributions to ending Alzheimer’s disease. The event, emceed by Fox News television anchor Chris Wallace, featured a presentation on “New Frontiers in Alzheimer’s Prevention and Treatment,” as well as a runway show by Oscar de la Renta.

The event raised funds for ADDF, which is dedicated to rapidly accelerating the discovery of drugs to prevent, treat and cure Alzheimer's disease. Similarly, the Vradenburgs, through their work at UsA2 and its many networks, have been at the center of efforts to speed innovation and end Alzheimer’s for patients and caregivers by 2020.

“We are honored to have been recognized by the ADDF and the Neiman Marcus Mazza Gallerie at this great event that underscores how the fight against Alzheimer’s disease is a team sport. We cannot do it alone,” Trish Vradenburg said. “That’s why we are called UsAgainstAlzheimer’s, which was created to start a movement, to demand and deliver change, to press for funding and faster delivery of innovative medicines, to strive for earlier diagnosis and enable strategic collaboration. We look forward to strengthening our work so that we can defeat this merciless disease that touches so many of us personally and, ultimately, all of us economically.”

Former National Institutes of Health director Dr. Elias Zerhouni recently said of George and Trish Vradenburg:

“Under their leadership, UsAgainstAlzheimer’s has built up a coalition of champions against Alzheimer’s in Congress and amongst the public. Their advocacy efforts helped bring about long overdue funding of Alzheimer’s research at the National Institutes of Health, including the historic boost of $350 million for Alzheimer’s research in the FY16 spending bill, all due in no small part to Trish and George’s dedication and commitment.”

UsAgainstAlzheimer’s (UsA2) is an innovative non-profit organization demanding – and delivering – a solution to Alzheimer’s. Driven by the suffering of millions of families, UsAgainstAlzheimer’s presses for greater urgency from government, industry and the scientific community in the quest for an Alzheimer's cure – accomplishing this through effective leadership, collaborative advocacy, and strategic investments.

Founded in 2010 by Trish and George Vradenburg, UsAgainstAlzheimer’s has worked across sectors to: (1) secure the national goal of preventing and effectively treating Alzheimer’s by 2025 and help secure nearly $500 million in additional public funding for Alzheimer’s research over the past few years; (2) drive global efforts that resulted in the leaders of the world’s most powerful nations, the G7 group, to embrace a similar 2025 goal and to call for greater levels of research investment and collaboration; and (3) forge industry commitments to improve efficiencies for an expedited drug discovery and approval process.
