WASHINGTON, DC, May 26, 2016—As part of an esteemed group of panelists, including members of Congress and mobile and senior care executives, UsAgainstAlzheimer’s co-founder and Chairman George Vradenburg will speak about how technology and mobile applications can spur meaningful social interaction and connectivity for aging Americans, especially those living with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers.

The program, held at the Russell Senate Office Building, complements the launch of Connected Living’s campaign to “Connect One Million Seniors” and their families. The campaign is centered on the release of a new mobile app that provides an intimate, secure place for family members to connect and share information. The platform, available on the App Store for iOS devices and available this summer on Android devices, includes private social networking, location monitoring and steps tracking.

“The Connected Living mobile app is a terrific tool to keep families in touch and intact. It has the potential to make a positive impact on the five million individuals, and their families, living with Alzheimer’s disease today,” Vradenburg said. “By 2025, the number of people 65 and older with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias will escalate to an estimated 7.1 million with nearly 80% of those people living in their own home.”

In addition to Vradenburg, speakers at the event included Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY);  Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV); Congressman Joe Kennedy III (D-MA); Senator Ed Markey (D-MA); Rick Grimes, President & CEO, Assisted Living Federation of America (Retired); Larry Irving, Co-Founder, Mobile Alliance for Global Good; and Sarah Hoit, CEO & Co-Founder, Connected Living.
