George Vradenburg, Chairman of USAgainstAlzheimer’s, issued the following statement in response to the news that the Obama Administration is planning to launch a public-private effort to map the human brain.

"News reports that the Administration is poised to launch a public-private effort to map the human brain - akin to the Human Genome Project - represent and exciting prospect in the fight against Alzheimer's and would reaffirm President Obama's promise in the State of the Union to support 'mapping the human brain to unlock the answers to Alzheimer's.' With a significant increase in investments in this field, we believe that targeted Alzheimer's research efforts as part of this new brain mapping initiative have the potential to provide the nation with a common rallying point and move us closer to achieving the national goal of stopping Alzheimer's by 2025."
