An October 26, 2016 Express UK article reported that “Findings from a survey commissioned by Public Health England reveal just 2 per cent of Brits are able to correctly identify all the potentially changeable factors which can increase the risk of dementia.”

An October 25, 2016 NPR.org radio piece interviewed Cori Bargmann, president of science for the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, the joint venture of pediatrician Priscilla Chan and Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg. According to Bargmann, “As a neuroscientist, I see tremendous unmet needs in neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease and ALS. [Also] diseases that affect young adults like schizophrenia, and learning disorders and autism that affect children. So I can look across the whole field and think of ways that we would like to be able to address these problems.”

An October 25, 2016 News Medical article reported that “An experimental drug shows promise in treating Alzheimer's disease by preventing inflammation and removing abnormal protein clumps in the brain that are associated with the disease, suggests a study in mice presented at the ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2016 annual meeting.”
