Read our October, 2018 A-LIST “Pulse of the Community” Issue Brief to learn about our latest A-LIST “What Matters Most” survey findings, and meet some of our patient/caregiver advocates. Two years ago, UsA2 launched the A-LIST to close a glaring knowledge gap in science and research — the needs of patients and their caregivers. New A-LIST data about opinions and experiences with cognitive assessments, fielded in partnership with Quest Diagnostics, shows that a large majority of people would like to get information about cognitive assessments from a medical provider, but two-thirds say that conversation has not taken place. A-LIST is an initiative of UsAgainstAlzheimer’s.

Watch “Turning Point,” a gripping new documentary about researchers on the cusp of a scientific breakthrough that could be the first step toward making Alzheimerʼs disease a distant memory. The film includes UsAgainstAlzheimer’s Chairman George Vradenburg, and is dedicated to UsA2 Co-Founder, Trish Vradenburg. Anyone interested in bringing the film to their community can request information about hosting a screening here.

An October 3, 2018 Careliving blog post by Alzheimer’s Advocate Kim Campbell reflected on her experiences at the 2018 UsAgainstAlzheimer’s Summit in Washington last week. According to the post, “One of the most powerful panels that I attended was a group of women talking about the need to make brain health, like heart health, a priority in our culture. It used to be that we would only talk about heart health after a major heart event – like a heart attack or a stroke – but as advocates started to change this conversation and impress the importance of taking care of your heart health, the conversation became a common topic between patients, health care providers and our community at large… Now we need to work toward a similar cultural shift around the topic of brain health!”

An October 3, 2018 Fortune Magazine article featured Mei Mei Hu of United Neuroscience, who appeared at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women summit this week. United Neuroscience is working on an experimental Alzheimer’s disease vaccine, which recently completed a phase two clinical trial. According to the article, “Alzheimer’s presents itself with misfolded brain proteins which can aggregate and create plaques; the hope is that the company’s therapy can “teach your body to create antibodies against those plaques.””
