It would be my second trip to the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado.  But my Mom had never been, so we decided to make my next trip there our vacation together.  My Mom is my best friend, and I looked forward to watching her reaction to the quaint main street surrounded by all those beautiful mountains.  She hadn’t been doing so well since she’d had a car accident a few years before.  Trouble remembering where she put things, trouble formulating sentences.  I told myself then that she was just growing older.

It's almost two years since I quit my job to be a full-time daughter, after ten years of trying to balance caregiving and work - doing both "the best I could," which was nowhere near good enough (though since my mother's death I've never spent a second regretting something I could have done better at the office). I'm another daughter who cared for a mother who became her daughter. Another daughter haunted and blessed by memories of bad days, good days, terrible days, hilarious days, the best and worst of my life. I have a hundred stories to tell.

I have been caregiving for people with Alzheimer's since July 2014. This disease makes me so sad. We have lost a lot of residents from this horrible disease -males and females.
