WASHINGTON, DC (March 7, 2016) – Following is a statement by George Vradenburg, chairman of UsAgainstAlzheimer’s, on the passing of First Lady Nancy Reagan.

“Trish and I were saddened to learn of Nancy Reagan’s passing. Nancy Reagan was a remarkable woman and First Lady, and a loving and extraordinarily devoted wife to her beloved husband, President Reagan. Her commitment to him was legendary, particularly throughout his difficult battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Nancy Reagan was a great supporter of Alzheimer’s, attending a number of our events to raise awareness and consciousness about Alzheimer’s.

Together, the Reagans brought Alzheimer’s out of the shadows and courageously showed the world that this disease affects everyone. Nancy Reagan’s legacy as an Alzheimer’s caregiver and advocate will long be remembered. We join all Americans, and those throughout the world, in sending our condolences to the entire Reagan family.”
