WASHINGTON, DC – The Global CEO Initiative (CEOi) on Alzheimer’s Disease today announced that Home Instead Senior Care© – the world's leading provider of in-home care services for seniors will join the CEOi to advance the quality of care for those suffering from Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

Through its diverse group of leading global businesses, including Home Instead, the CEOi is seeking to improve the way society addresses Alzheimer’s patients and caregivers by working in collaboration with governments and NGOs.

Building on the momentum triggered by the recent G8 Dementia Summit commitments to a global response to Dementia, Home Instead joins CEOi member companies including GE, Pfizer, Merck, Bank of America, Lilly, Nestle Health Science, AC Immune, Banner Health, Sanofi, Takeda Pharmaceutical, and Janssen.

Home Instead is an innovator in Alzheimer’s and Dementia care delivery and will be an invaluable resource as we work with governments to develop new and improved models of care for the tens of millions of families suffering from Alzheimer’s and Dementia around the world,” said George Vradenburg, Convener of the CEOi. “Home Instead’s focus on making home care accessible for families around the world makes them an ideal member to help us move this important issue forward with corporations.”

Every four seconds, another person is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or Dementia. Without a drug to slow the progression of the disease, the prevalence of Alzheimer’s and Dementia, which already costs the world $605 billion annually, is projected to triple from 44 million to 135 million by 2050, leaving an unprecedented number of people reliant on the care of others.

“Families around the world are experiencing the financial, emotional and social impact of this 21st century epidemic.  The CEOi brings together the full range of biopharmaceutical, financial, medical foods, diagnostics, financial service and care delivery companies to deal with this disease and its impact on families,” said Roger Baumgart, Chief Executive Officer of Home Instead Senior Care. “We believe that together we can make a meaningful impact in improving the way Alzheimer’s care is viewed and delivered across the globe.”
