The National Alzheimer's Project Act, passed unanimously by Congress, calls on the U.S. government to create a national strategic plan to tackle the rapidly growing threat of Alzheimer's Disease. George Vradenberg and Eric Hall -- members of the Advisory Council on Alzheimer's tasked with creating that plan -- want your voice at the table!

George Vradenburg, the co-founder and chairman of USAgainstAlzheimer's, and Eric Hall, president and founding chief executive officer of the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, have been selected by the Secretary of Health and Human Services to serve on the landmark national Advisory Council on Alzheimer's Research, Care and Services. The Advisory Council is charged with developing and presenting to Congress and the Administration the first-ever National Strategic Plan for Alzheimer's.

Researchers believe we can end Alzheimer's as we know it by 2020, but it will take all of us speaking out to make it happen. Please sign the petition below to call for the defeat of Alzheimer's by 2020.

To the Members of the Advisory Council:

Millions of Americans who have been touched by Alzheimer's Disease are watching carefully as you begin your important work.

As leaders in the fight against this cruel disease, you already know the toll it inflicts on our nation. You know the tragic toll it has on families, and the devastating impact it will have on our national debt, as the cost of Alzheimer's care rises to $2 trillion over the next decade.

You know that of the ten most deadly diseases, only Alzheimer's has no treatment or cure – but that the best and brightest researchers believe that a cure is in reach, but only with a renewed national commitment and sustained investment.

We must ensure that patients battling the disease receive quality care and that those who care for them are provided strong support – now as new therapies and improved treatments are discovered, and ultimately, until there is a cure. That day must come soon because it will become increasingly difficult to afford the quality of care that all Americans with Alzheimer's deserve, and the toll of this disease is staggering on caregivers and our society.

On behalf of USAgainstAlzheimer's, the Alzheimer's Foundation of America and the nationwide movement working to defeat, we hope you will pursue an aggressive, bold plan that sets clear goals, unites the public and private sectors, and leaves no stone unturned in the effort to end Alzheimer's by 2020.
