A January 14, 2016 EurekAlert! release reported that “A new study from the Monell Center, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and collaborating institutions reports a uniquely identifiable odor signature from mouse models of Alzheimer's disease.” Read the journal article in Nature here.

A January 13, 2016 ABC 30 article and broadcast interview with UsAgainstAlzheimer’s strategic partner the Alzheimer's Prevention Clinic at Weill Cornell Medicine highlighted the link between Alzheimer’s and lifestyle choices. According to the article, “Max is a patient of Richard Isaacson, MD, Neurologist and Director of the Alzheimer's Prevention Clinic at Weill Cornell Medicine & New York-Presbyterian Hospital where Isaacson sees patients as young as 27. Dr. Isaacson told Ivanhoe, "Alzheimer's disease starts in the brain 20 to 30 years before the first symptom of memory loss. And that leaves ample time for people to make very specific, evidence-based, low-risk brain healthy choices." Like very specific exercise recommendations...at least 150 minutes of mixed cardio and weight training a week. Isaacson tells patients to pay attention to mid-section weight gain, especially mid-life.”

A January 13, 2016 UC San Diego Health article reported that “In the first clinical trial of its type, researchers at University of California, San Diego School of Medicine and the Alzheimer’s Disease Cooperative Study (ADCS), in collaboration with AC Immune, a biotechnology company based in Switzerland, will test the safety and tolerability of an immunotherapy vaccine that targets Alzheimer’s disease-like characteristics in adults with Down syndrome.”
