An August 24, 2017 Parade article paid tribute to the passing of country music legend Glen Campbell. “Remembering: a celebration of the life and music of Glen Campbell” was held yesterday at the CMA Theater in the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville for family, friends, and the country music and Alzheimer’s communities, including UsAgainstAlzheimer’s Board Members Meryl Comer and Karen Segal. To close-out the evening, Kim Campbell “read a heartbreaking eulogy to her husband, touching upon his slow fade into Alzheimer’s disease and her own journey to find peace after his death.”


An August 24, 2017 Press Release from Alzheimer’s Greater Los Angeles (ALZGLA) highlighted its efforts to honor Hispanic heritage month with culturally tailored programming, including a collaboration with LatinosAgainstAlzheimer’s on a Spanish-language Alzheimer’s play titled, El Cuidador (the Caregiver). According to the release, “These projects dramatize the complex and emotional impact of Alzheimer's Disease on the patients, family and caregivers in the Latino community.”


An August 23, 2017 Fox 24 Charleston video segment and article featured Stephanie Monroe, AfricanAmericansAgainstAlzheimer’s Director, and her efforts to encourage more African Americans to participate in clinical trials. Front and center is the award-winning stage play, “Forget Me Not,” which is currently touring the country to educate about and engage with issues around Alzheimer’s disease.

An August 24, 2017 Science Daily article spotlighted a new study from the ASU-Banner Neurodegenerative Disease Research Center finding that a blood test can detect Alzheimer's disease even before the onset of symptoms in people with genetic risk. The test can distinguish between AD and other degenerative brain conditions such as Parkinson’s. According to researcher Paul Coleman, “We also presented data showing the ability to detect people at risk of a future diagnosis for Alzheimer's disease."
