Alzheimer's is an Iowa issue. And it's a crisis.

In 2010, 69,000 Iowans over age 65 - and 5.4 million Americans - suffer from Alzheimer's disease, and in the coming decades those numbers will triple. Our nation will spend $2 trillion over the next 10 years caring for people with Alzheimer’s. Nearly 15 million Americans act as unpaid caregivers for loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease. Of the ten deadliest diseases, only Alzheimer's has no cure or treatment.

The Commitment to End Alzheimer's

We ask that policymakers take the leading role in this fight for a cure to Alzheimer’s – on behalf of Iowans and Americans across the country. Work with us to:

Bring Alzheimer’s to the forefront of our national conversation – it is a national crisis and we need to find a cure.

Support and advocate for the rapid enactment of a National Alzheimer’s Plan – one that sets a bold but achievable goal of preventing or controlling this disease in this decade through research and discovery.

Support crucial reforms to ensure a public-private effort to move forward on innovative research, and

Support a dramatic investment in outcomes-oriented research at academic institutions in our state.

Help us tell national candidates and policymakers that finding a cure for Alzheimer's disease is an Iowa priority. Add your voice today!
